Two years ago, when I began Providence as a freshman, my family had just moved to Washington and everything was new and unfamiliar. Starting a new school was especially daunting, and I had a lot of questions and fears. Thankfully, my first day was not the day I had originally dreaded. My teachers weren’t the strict and scary ones I had imagined. The students did not leave me alone at lunch, friendless and unsure how to fit it. In fact, I couldn’t believe how friendly my fellow students were, more than I could ever have hoped for. They showed a lot of interest in me and quickly brought me into the school community. This display of kindness has instilled in me a desire to have that same impact on those around me. Now, after only two years at Providence, I call these people my best friends. In addition, those teachers I feared would be super-scary are much more than mere teachers. They are also my friends, people I respect and trust. They care about us as people, and that makes us want to give our best to them.

Providence offers so many wonderful social and athletic opportunities for its students. We plan fellowships that provide not only fun activities, but also a time of bonding and Christian camaraderie where the central focus is all about growing together as brothers and sisters in Christ. The athletics here at Providence are proficiently coached, and each sports team thrives under its coach. Whether we win or lose, we are constantly reminded to give God the glory. Talented, committed coaches cultivate our skills and encourage us to pursue our full potential, both as individuals and as members of a team.  I have learned how to work hard and build others up by watching my teammates. I am so thankful that I can be a part of the volleyball team here.

God’s love is evident in the hearts of the Providence staff and student body. Each one has been a unique blessing to my family and me, not only when we first started attending, but even more so now as we have spent more time among them. I wouldn’t have traded this experience for anything. I would certainly encourage those looking for a solid Christian education to consider Providence. Like me, you will find that serving  God and serving others is the primary focus of the school, and that it is a joy to be a part of what He is doing at here.
